Zips for pockets ( Ultimate Carry all bag)

Updated: Sep 22, 2021

Part Six As I had already made the smaller front pocket, I had at least managed to put the smallest zip in. Now on to the two larger pockets. I re- watched video 4 again, and here are my step by step pics of my process….

Step 1. Lay your pocket out.

Step 2. Put your zipper face down with the puller on the right side of the piece.

Step 3. Place your lining face down so right sides of pocket and lining are together. Then clip the lining, zipper and pocket together with wonder clips or pins.

Step 4. You then pin where the end of the zip is, and pull the little end bit out to the right side.

Step 5. Sew down the edge of the piece. Stop before the bottom. You have your needle down, but lift the presser foot up. You then undo the zip a little past the foot,( it’s a bit fiddly because you’re sort of doing it more by feel… but it’s doable). You then pull the other little end tab out, put your presser foot down again, and sew to the end.

Step 6. Undo your zip, and do it up again to make sure it’s freely moving.

Step 7. You then flip the bottom up to the top of the zip, and clip it.

Step 8. Flip it over and bring the lining up the other side and clip,( so now you have them both clipped over on themselves) with the zip in the middle.

Step 9. Pin the end of the zip and pull out the end as before. You sew the interface side up as your zip puller is on the right ( or bottom near you).

step 10. Repeat the procedure of opening the zip and pulling the end out as before.

Step 11. Undo the zip and pull out the right way. You’re zip is now in place.😀

you then sew up the sides, but don’t forget to push the bottom in a bit to give the pocket space.

My three pockets all done!😀
