Making external zippered front and back pockets, then handles.

Part Seven

As my machine doesn’t do embroidery, I had an idea to print out a visual image I like. I made this roughly 7”x7”. I then sandwiched it between two acetate sheets to protect it, and added some binding. Then I sewed it to the 8”x8” square.

As before with the zips, I clipped it face down and added the top piece of fabric and some lining underneath.

I then added the other longer lining piece, and sewed altogether. Front pocket done for now.

Back pocket

The same procedure as the two front side pockets. Sew along the edges ( face to face), then turn out the right way. Fold up 5” which gives you the pocket,( I just added some binding and trim to the edges). Then sew up the sides.

Making Handles.

I couldn’t find polyester webbing, so I used plastic aquarium piping instead. It worked a treat!
